200 pesos fee plus 70 per person plus 20 pesosparking fee.. Our guide Daisy was funny and knowledgeable. Took us 1hr to finish the tour. Great cave!!
Well wort the trip. So much bigger than we thought. For the adventurous person you can even go further down in the mountain. Cost us about 360 pesos for two person, 1 motorbike and the mandatory guide.
I booked a tour with an agency and the Calinawan Cave was part of the activities. I didn't expect much but it was really nice! There's 2 options in the cave, one is they will show you the first 2 level and the other option is what I think is the best to fully experience the cave. They will make you crawl to go deeper into the cave and the guides enjoy taking pictures for you!
You will enjoy it if you are the adventurous type of person!
Our tour was completed by James, who was knowledgeable and also had a great sense of humour. We explored the first 5 layers and really enjoyed the experience
Calinawan Cave in Tanay is a natural, multi-level cave, part of several series of caves in the area, was said to have been discovered in 1901 (by a grandfather of one of the cave guides). It was used as a local hideout by refugees during the Philippine-American War and by the Japanese during World War II.
This cave is mostly dry and many of the stalactites and stalagmites, though still impressive, are dead. The cave’s name was derived from the word linaw (clear). During the 15th-18th century, opposing parties used to convene inside the cave to settle disputes. It’s a long cave system with different levels and openings.
This is a dry cave so it's not slippery inside. Our guide, Tevz, is very knowledgable about technical details of the cave and history. It's nice that she injects humor into her guide script :)
Helmets are required for visitors to ensure safety.
The entire walk only took about 20 minutes, and takes you down to 2 levels of the cave.
Register upon arrival, and they assign a guide for you.
Recommended for those looking for an adventure that's easy 😊
Was my first caving experience outside of the USA. The guide was extremely knowledgeable and took her time explaining things in both English and Tagalog to our group. She was also very hospitable and talented with the camera as she offered to take pictures of everyone with their own phone. The cave itself was a great experience not to much was done to modify it from the original state which I enjoyed.
Multiple level cave with guide service. Entrance fee is 50/pax and guide - mandatory 200b/group. They provide helmets for security but not torchlight. The guide was very knowledgeable and helpful in taking pictures. A dissapointing fact is that 3 out of the 5 accessible chambers required an extra discretionary tip for the guide. Also, despite asking the guide if we'd get wet and being answered it is a dry cave, those chambers are only fully dry during April-May before the monsoon starts. Now, in February, they're muddy up to the knees which was a deterrent for us to explore since we geared up for a dry cave. Although this was dissapointing it was a good but short experience.
